GIRLS IN AVIATION DAY

Apr 21, 2026

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, ASKY, in collaboration with the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) and Plan International Togo, with the support of the Société Aéroportuaire de Lomé-Tokoin (SALT), the Airport Security Authority of Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport – Port Autonome de Lomé (ASAIGE-PAL), as well as RAMCO and SERVAIR, welcomed eighteen young girls aged 15 to 22 on March 7, 2026, for an immersion experience at the heart of ASKY’s operational environment.
The objective of this initiative was to provide these students with an immersive and enriching learning experience aimed at increasing their exposure to professional opportunities in the aviation and airline catering sectors.
This initiative enabled the participants to discover various careers within the air transport industry and to interact with inspiring women professionals, including Mrs. Jennifer Yhaye (Airline Pilot at ASKY), Mrs. Élodie Da Cruz (Aircraft Maintenance Technician at ASKY), Mrs. Anaïs Edorh (Hub Manager Lomé at ASKY), Mrs. Tadona (Commercial Director at SALT), as well as several women serving as section heads at SERVAIR.
This joint initiative reaffirmed the shared commitment of the participating institutions to gender inclusion, youth empowerment, and equitable access to emerging professional fields, particularly in high-growth sectors where women remain underrepresented.
Through guided tours, interactive sessions, and practical demonstrations, the participants gained first-hand insight into airport operations, including passenger terminal management, aircraft maintenance systems, cockpit procedures, and several other key functions within the aviation industry. They also attended a detailed presentation on airline catering professions, covering operational requirements as well as the strict hygiene and safety standards governing this sector.
Through this joint initiative, EBID, ASKY, and Plan International Togo reaffirm their shared vision of promoting gender equality, strengthening human capital development, and supporting the emergence of the next generation of women leaders across Africa.
